Fall 2017

We had our first real snowfall yesterday and that marks the official end to our season.  Soft mounds of snow now hide remnants of our summer work. It is time to move on, but first a moment to remember.  Without hesitation, the most notable memory from the summer:  Very few mosquitoes and flies!!  There were other entomological anomalies.  Lots of cutworms to start the year, millions of aphids mid summer, and then millions of ladybugs to finish things off.  Strange. Weather wise: no major “weather events” to report.  All in all it was a really good year with plenty of phenomenal produce!  I think we all ate well this year!

With memories of all those great vegetables fresh in our minds, we have opened up registration for the 2018 growing season!  Spring is not far off (relatively speaking), and so now is a good time to secure a spot with our veggie CSA for the new year.  Once you have registered, consider buying a share as a gift for a friend or family member.  Or perhaps an end of the year gift for your employees?

All the information you need for the 2018 season is right here on our website, so take a moment to read it through.  Let us know if you have any questions!

Theresa and I will now take some time just to relax and recover.  We have started our annual fall mission to reconnect with family and friends, all of whom we have had to ignore during the busy months of summer.   Our project list for this winter has a new frontrunner: The barn sits empty for the first time since we moved here.  Over the years it has housed milking cows and calves, pigs, rabbits, chickens, horses and laying hens and probably a few unwanted guests as well.  It is time to clean it out and provide a blank canvas for what is to come next.  Any suggestions?

We wish you all the best this winter, and hope to see you in the spring.

Geoff
